Located in Carp ON, The Cheshire Cat Pub is a meeting ground for the community. Whether it’s local brews, music, or get-togethers The Cheshire Cat Pub is the pub of the people. The family owned and run business strives to support and showcase the local community through engaging local farmers and suppliers as much as possible. Serving up contemporary local brews, a renowned whisky collection, and a modern take on traditional British cuisine The Cat’s goal is to keep the pub experience alive in the community.

A Cohesive Brand With Purr-sonality

The Cheshire Cat Pub’s branding redesign centred on creating a more cohesive and versatile identity across all platforms while preserving the pub’s iconic Cheshire Cat imagery. A key focus was reflecting the pub’s inviting, community-centred atmosphere and its cheeky, playful personality. By modernizing the logo and visual elements, the new branding embodies the pub’s warmth, humour, and tradition, ensuring it feels like the perfect “third place” for locals to unwind and connect.

Iterative Process Rooted in Hand-Drawn Authenticity

The project began with extensive sketching to explore the style and orientation of the Cheshire Cat character and logo. After multiple iterations, the final logo retained a hand-drawn, slightly rough aesthetic to emphasize the pub’s authentic, local feel. Two refined concepts were presented, with the final choice inspiring the overall brand direction.

A Versatile, Character-Driven Brand

The final branding of The Cheshire Cat Pub successfully captures its quirky, community-centred atmosphere. With a hand-drawn, imperfect logo that feels personal and authentic, the design reflects the pub’s character and local roots. The versatile logo works seamlessly across mediums, from merchandise to signage, while maintaining the pub’s cheeky, inviting feel. The cohesive visual identity enhances the pub’s reputation as a welcoming meeting place for the community, resonating with both regulars and newcomers.
